El Turco was a Janissary soldier who lived during the 17th century of the Ottoman Empire. Many different stories are told about him, but the most famous is what happened to him in Moena village.
El Turco served in the army of Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha during the Siege of Vienna. However, after the army's defeat, he was forced to flee, and his path led to Moena village.
When he arrived at the village, El Turco was in poor condition and on the verge of freezing. However, village women refused to help him. Only one woman did everything she could to help him and welcomed him into her home.
Over time, El Turco became a respected person in the village and gained popularity among the villagers. He was nicknamed "El Turco" and continued to live in the village.
Later, an Ottoman recruitment campaign came to Moena. El Turco, being one of the village residents, had to be enlisted. However, the villagers decided to protect El Turco and hid him in the village.
